Hi my name is Poppet and what a pretty little Poppet I am.

I am a tiny little girl. My key worker friend thinks perhaps I am a mix between a Staffy and a Jack Russell as I am so tiny. I have bags of personality consistent with those breeds too.

I was found stray on the street as no one wanted me anymore so I was taken to a scary place called the pound. At the pound dogs only get seven days for their owner to collect them otherwise they are sent to the kennel in the sky. Scarily pound dogs like me are top of the 'sky' list, not least because of my breed and the fact there are so many of us looking for homes, but also because I was very poorly in the pound.

When I first came to SSC I had horrendously infected paws and skin. My paws were so sore they made my friends there cry just to look at. They were bleeding and infected and swollen. I was so brave though and despite being a little bit nervous and in lots of pain I let them put cream on me every day.

I have had lots of visits to the vets and have been such a good girl. I am good in the car and let the vet mess me around - my walkers are all so proud of me.

Following all my tests we think it is likely I had a severe allergic reaction to the cleaning products at the pound place I was at. But I am healing so well now!! My walkers cannot believe the transformation. I am now able to have little walks on the grass which I love. I think I am made of tough stuff to get so much better so quickly. But my paws are still a little sore and a nice warm carpeted home would be so lovely for me.

Despite everything I have been through, I learn to love and trust so very quickly and my favourite place in the world is sitting on my walkers laps. I only have to meet them once and that's it - I love them. Once I know they are not going to hurt me the nerves disappear and I get on their laps and cuddle up really close. I think I would make lovely company for someone who loves cuddles too.

My personality is really starting to come out and I like to play with toys now too. But still my favourite game by far is cuddles.

I have not been able to have proper walks since I have been here because of my paws. But I can't wait to get out more. I think I will love walks when I am better. I might pull a little bit though as I am so excited to get out. But I am so tiny I am very easy to handle. Even for an older person. We could be oldies together! ❤

As I haven't been able to get out much, I am still being tested with other dogs and cats however I do bark at them a bit in kennels and at the vets, so I think I may prefer to be the only pet in the home - that way I get all the cuddles to myself too which I KNOW I will enjoy.

I have not met any little children at the kennels yet but as I am a little nervous when I first meet people I think older children only would be a bit better for me. And after all I am getting older so I do need to have some peace and quiet now and again.

I hope to share some cuddles with you very soon. I would love to sit on your lap and watch the world go by together.

Big cuddles from pretty little Poppet. Xx

Poppet is spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped. She is currently in kennels in the Worcester area but can be re-homed anywhere in the UK, pending a successful home visit. However, any potential adopter should be willing to travel to meet Poppet where she is now. There is an adoption donation of £90 for Poppet and all money donated goes directly to helping all the seniors in our care.

If you think you could offer Poppet a new home please ring Charlene on 07771 914 583 to find out more about her or complete the online adoption application form at www.seniorstaffyclub.co.uk :thanks:
