Rudi is a German Shepherd mix who is approximately 2 - 3 years old. He has been in rescue for just over a year and is currently in foster. When you visit Rudi he is one of the dogs who will push forward and seek you out as he just loves people and a fuss. He wants to kiss and cuddle you and just craves affection and it would be hard not to notice this lovely boy.
Rudi was living in a home with two identical dogs locked in a small enclosure in terrible conditions and he was covered in faeces. A volunteer used to regularly visit and take the dogs food and water. One day she turned up and one of the other dogs was dead and had been so for nearly a week before they moved him. Rudi managed to escape but unfortunately he got knocked down by a car and dragged along the road. Thank heaven he then found a rescue place and Rudi’s leg injury was treated. He endured quite a few months of vet visits and bandage changes.
Rudi’s back leg is very well healed, but will never be right. He will always limp and does not use the leg very well. The vet has said advised to leave it as it is. The alternative is to put a plate in the leg but then his leg would be stiff/fixed and he would not be able to bend it. Rudi is comfortable with his leg as it is and he does get around well but he may suffer with arthritis in later life.
He is quite a sensitive boy and so loving but if you catch him unaware sometimes he will yelp and cower as if he is going to be beaten.
Rudi is fine with the other dogs and not really interested in them. He is a people dog and would love his very own family to shower and pour his love into. If you like big hearted affectionate dogs who will tell you every day how delighted they are to have a home and show you how grateful they are then please consider our Rudi. Rudi is a very happy boy now and does actually smile!
