Dottie is just over 18 months old and a medium sized (22 inches to the shoulder) Labrador/Collie X.She has been owned since she was a puppy and is a much loved dog. Dottie’s family have asked us to find her a home because their home has a extensive garden which cannot be fenced and they are surrounded by sheep which is proving far too much temptation for Dottie! Hence Dottie does not have the run of a garden and is having to be restricted. Her owners would like her have the home she deserves with the freedom of an enclosed garden where she can run around safely.
Dottie is a delightfully sweet and friendly girl and loves people, children and dogs. She enjoys regular visits from her owner’s 5 year old grandson who has spent time with her since she was a puppy. Friend’s children visit too and although Dottie can be a bit exuberant sometimes, she is trusted with children around, but has however claimed many a burst football as her prize!
She is house-trained, travels well in the car and has already learned quite a number of commands and been trained well. Dottie also loves water with a passion, the sea being her favourite ... jumping in the waves and biting them! She is walked on a halti, can walk well on the lead, but she gets easily distracted by all the interesting things going on around her. She responds well to food related encouragement – in fact she loves her food and eats almost anything - so further training should not be an issue. Her indulgent pleasures are a peanut butter filled kong and the remains of a partially fill yoghurt pot!
Dottie has a lovely nature and is a fun dog but she is also excitable and with the working Collie characteristics that will appeal to owners of that breed ... she is intelligent but very lively.
Dottie lives as an only dog, but she was one of 12 pups and her owners believe she would also benefit from living with another dog for company. She has not been tested with cats, but we think it unlikely that she could live with one. We are looking for a home for Dottie where they will continue to train her, understand her breed mix and keep her safe on walks re livestock. We are also looking for companionship home i.e. no full-time workers.
Dottie is vaccinated, wormed, micro-chipped and spayed.
