Spike, Patterdale, DOB 10.2009 – Godstone, Surrey

Homing Requirements: Spike deserves a family who 'get' the working terrier's mind-set and can protect him from his working instincts ensuring him safe management e.g. management of exits. He can live with older children providing they are terrier savvy. He can be left and travels well. Not for cats, small furries and carefully managed around puppies. Spike has heavy scarring from former working life ?Badger baiting use.

His Story: Spike was advertised "free to a good home" and delivered by a man to a family who knew nothing about terriers. Spike has lived within this family and in friendship with their 9 year old child but the family were at a loss with his working terrier traits e.g. the need to manage introductions to strangers. Spike is in boarding kennels near Godstone, Surrey.

Advert: Spike is a dear soul. Spike enjoys his walks, meets other dogs fairly well including building friendships with 2 visiting dogs. Spike gives a little growl when concerned: A good thing and lessens in extent as he becomes settled. Spike did well but needed supervision around hyped screeching children. He soon calmed as the children were reminded to be made aware. Travels well in the car and enjoys 'home comforts.

Spike is a 3 year old smooth haired Patterdale (Black Fell Terrier). Spike needs retention on an extender lead as he would 'go to ground' and has killed hedgehogs when allowed off lead by his novice family. He is keen and 'wired' outside, enjoys detection and exploration. Soft and cuddly indoors. Needs a terrier family who are aware of his 'excitability', can manage him and he ideally needs a quiet household. Spike will make a loving pet ... we love this boy!
