Jacklin (or JackJack as she is more affectionately known) came to TLDR recently from a private home situation due to a change of circumstances and is an absolute sweetheart.

She is sharing the home with two other female Westies, one of whom she gets on very well with. Unfortunately the other resident female is very dominant and has been a tad jealous, but Jacklin has coped with this well bless her. Although Jacklin is friendly towards other dogs, copes well with them in a home and meets and greets well on walks, we do feel that having always lived as the only dog, she would be happiest finding a new home where she would once again be the solo dog and enjoying all the attention into her retirement years.

Jacklin walks well on lead and off, and never ventures far from your side. She does pull a little on a collar and lead, but is much better on a harness. Her recall is excellent. She does not walk terribly fast and is rather overweight, so will need regular short walks and a sensible diet to help bring her weight down to a more healthy level and increase her stamina. She is currently on Wainwrights 7+ food (wet & dry) which she has both morning and evening. She soon tells you when it’s near dinner time, and has quickly learned where foster Mum keeps the food, and will sit near the cupboard and grumble to tell her it’s time! 😀 She also has 1 chew at lunch time (low calorie or joint care small bone) or 2 dry biscuit shapes. She is however a bit of a food thief, so be careful where you leave your sandwich or biscuit!

Jacklin has not been cat tested, so a home without cats or small furries would be best.

Jacklin has had regular contact with children through her life, aged from about 5 years upwards, but as she is now a senior lady we would prefer to home where there are no resident children, and visiting children are aged 12+.

However, don’t be fooled into thinking this girl is a couch potato! She adores her toys, especially squeaky ones (although the squeak doesn’t last very long!), and loves playing football in the garden. She has an endearing grumble when she wants your attention!

Jacklin doesn’t enjoy car travel especially, but did settle after about 5 minutes in a crate (she won’t sit still in a harness and can wriggle out of them). Regular short trips may help improve this, as it appears she is just not used to car journeys. It may help if she was harnessed and clipped in, but had someone sat in the back with her to help her get used to the idea.

With other dogs in the foster home Jackline has not been left entirely alone, but was being left for long periods in the previous home due to the owner’s work hours. She could be left for up to 4 hours.

Jacklin adores people, and everyone she meets is greeted enthusiastically and fuss is welcomed!

She loves a shower and being towel dried, but really does not like the hair dryer. She sits nicely to be clipped, brushed and trimmed, and although not over keen on having her bottom area touched, she accepts it with good grace.

This beautiful girl is very bright and knows lots of commands; sit, wait, stay, paw, bed, and she loves nothing better than being with you on the sofa for cuddles. She’d also love to be allowed to sleep on your bed, but will settle in her own bed if told.

Could you be the perfect home to allow this little princess all the love she deserves, and offer her the walks, diet, cuddles and play she needs?
