Other:

Sidney is a 4 and a half year old Bassett Hound and Princess is a 4 and a half year old Yorkshire Terrier.

They came into TLDR due to a new baby in the family having allergy and health problems relating to dog hair.

They are a bonded pair and will not be separated.

These two have been together for four and a half years, since being puppies; they are a really lovely pair of dogs, very affectionate and easy-going. Both like sitting with or (on!) you and having lots of tummy-rubs so prepare to be squashed!
They are fine with other dogs and excellent with children. Sidney tends to ignore cats, Princess will chase and bark but not in an aggressive manner.
They have only been left for a short period within their foster home with no problems.

New friends are greeted nicely although Sydney does like to make sure he gets his share of attention.
Both dogs eat really well but need to be fed in separate rooms as Sidney has an appetite befitting a big hound and will help Princess to finish her food! She is far more relaxed when shut off from him to eat at a little lady’s pace (although NOT in a crate which she doesn't like) and will happily clear her bowl in minutes. Both love all food and all types of treats. Neither is that bothered about toys, preferring to play with each other, but Sidney will play with a raggy if Princess isn’t interested.

Car travel is no problem they are happy to curl up together on the back seat.
These two adore their walks! They are quite comical to watch as they walk on a 'splitter' lead; with little Princess usually leading the way, and jumping over Sidney's back if she starts feeling 'hemmed in' against the wall! Sidney loves to stop and smell at everything and gets distracted by anything that moves but walks on when asked - Princess likes to keep moving and becomes quite excited if she sees a cat/dog. The only thing that can stop Sidney in his tracks is puddles! He flatly refuses to walk through anything but the tiniest puddle and no amount of coaxing works - perhaps a tasty treat would help but he really doesn't like his tummy getting wet!
Recall is ok at home. Princess's recall is much better than Sidney's who just comes when he's good and ready (unless a treat is offered, in which case it's pretty immediate).

Both are fine being bathed and brushed. Princess becomes very anxious if scissors are introduced but is slowly improving with daily 'pretend trimming'. Due to the breed Sidney's chest and areas where there are folds of skin does benefit from being kept as clean and dry as possible, also from having his collar off when not out walking to allow air to get in. His ear flaps needs wiping too after walks as they drag in the mud and other unsavoury things which can lead to ear infections. This has been worked on by their foster mummy, she has helped to improve Sid’s skin & coat with regular washing and bathing, which the big fella has accepted with no fuss at all.

Neither have any known health issues. Both are vaccinated and Microchipped, boosters will be due in January 2014. Sydney is neutered, Princess will need to be speyed at the appropriate time advised by a Vet.

Sidney & Princess's foster mum has this to say about them:
