This dear little lad was on the PTS list at the pound until he was saved and brought to TLDR. Heaven only knows how he got on that list at such a tender age. Gizmo will need on-going training as he is only a baby and still has much to learn. However, he is a very bright boy and will flourish in the right environment with lots of patience and TLC.

Gizmo is good with the other dogs in his foster home and with the dogs he meets when out and about. Initially he had a few guarding issues over high value items such as treats and laps, but this is improving all the time and is easily managed with the use of a crate. However, it is possible that this unwanted behaviour may re-emerge in a new environment until he settles once again. Gizmo will chase cats.

It is felt that due to his guarding tendencies Gizmo would be best re-homed where any children are teenagers. He is a little wary when meeting new people but comes round quite quickly if allowed to take things at his own pace.

Gizmo can be a tad pully on-lead but his recall is pretty good. His fosterer says he is brilliant on car trips but he can also be left at home for short periods. He was not overly happy with being groomed but with patience and reward-based training for good behaviour this has improved dramatically. He has no issues regarding food, treats or toys with people. However, he can exhibit guarding traits towards other dogs. His fosterer and her family have worked very hard with Gizmo on this and his behaviour has greatly improved. It can also be easily managed by giving him treats etc whilst in his crate. Apparently, he loves a Kong stuffed with peanut butter and rawhide chews.

Gizmo is also happy to wear a muzzle when needed, making situations where he might become distressed, eg at the vets, much easier to manage.

His fosterer says "Gizmo is a really affectionate boy who has come on so well in the short time he has been with us. He is a very bright and friendly young dog who, with continued training and patience, will be a wonderful companion for many years to come. Gizmo has so many good points and has been a delight to foster."

Have you got a space in your home and your heart for this little man?

Gizmo has, of course, been neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, wormed and flea-treated and has no known on-going medical needs. He does, however, need his eyes wiped regularly as they tend to run.
